Growing Life Organic

If you are planning to carve your own pumpkins for Halloween, you should know how to care for them. You should keep them away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations. It would also be better to bring them inside so that you can protect them from any neighborhood critters. Remember, carving a pumpkin is a big mess that takes up a lot of space in the fridge. Therefore, you should plan ahead and bring them inside a few days before the holiday.

The best way to extend the life of your pumpkins is to store them properly. You can do this by storing them in a cool, dry bedroom. You can also store them in a root cellar or a cool basement. Generally, you should store them at around 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Avoid storing them in the sun for long periods of time. Warm temperatures cause their decay and will make the pumpkin look sad. Moreover, you should keep them away from direct sunlight for as long as possible.

If you do not plan on carving the pumpkin before the holiday, you should clean it thoroughly. You can use a diluted bleach solution for the purpose. The solution will help eliminate the microbes that cause rot. Ensure that the pumpkin is completely dry after carving. In order to keep the pumpkin fresh longer, you should place it in a cool and shady spot. You should place it on a table or other suitable surface. If you are unable to move the pumpkin, it would be better to use a storage stool or a small stand to keep it upright.
