Description
Spacemaster 80 Cucumber is an heirloom variety of cucumber known for its high yield and easy-to-grow nature.
This non-GMO variety of cucumber is perfect for home gardens and produces long, cylindrical cucumbers that are about 8 inches long and are perfect for slicing and eating fresh.
To germinate the seeds, start by filling seed trays or pots with seed compost and watering it thoroughly.
Next, make small indentations in the compost, about 1/4 inch deep, and place one seed in each indentation.
Cover the seeds with a thin layer of compost or vermiculite, and water gently.
Place the tray or pots in a propagator or cover with a plastic bag and place it in a warm spot (minimum temperature of 20-25°C) such as a windowsill or warm room.
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
Once the seedlings are big enough to handle, transplant them into 7cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outside. They will need full sun and well-drained soil.
Space them about 40in apart in rows 40in apart, give them some kind of support to climb like a trellis or a cucumber netting.
It is important to keep an eye out for pests and diseases, and to keep the cucumber plants well-watered, particularly during dry spells.
With proper care, these plants will begin to bear fruit in about 50-60 days after transplanting, and will continue to produce cucumbers throughout the growing season.
They are a climbing vine, and they will require to be trained to climb upward, to support the fruits weight.
Spacemaster 80 Cucumber is a reliable and easy-to-grow variety of cucumber that produces a bountiful harvest of delicious cucumbers.
With its high yield and easy-to-grow nature, it is a great choice for both experienced and novice gardeners.
