Growing Life Organic

Growing eggplant is easy once you know the right conditions. Make sure to plant seedlings in a sunny location in the garden and amend the soil with compost to keep the pH level of your soil between 5.5 and 7.0. As with any plant, eggplant thrives in warm, moist conditions and requires three months of growing time. If it’s too cold to plant your seeds, it will shrivel up, suffer from disease and insects, and not even grow.

The soil temperature should be at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit before planting your eggplants. This will keep them healthy and growing. In addition, eggplants need at least one inch of water per week. They should be planted about 24 inches apart in a row. You can use a drip irrigation system to avoid over-watering your plants and keeping the foliage moist. Make sure to plant your plants with slits, not the whole stem, to prevent them from getting wet.

When planting your eggplant seeds, make sure they’re at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit. This is an important factor as eggplant plants are sensitive to cool temperatures. They also require constant moisture, so you may need to water them more often than you think. If you’re unsure about the right conditions, ask a local gardener for advice. If your area is cool, eggplants don’t do well in cool, damp conditions. Depending on the climate and your growing location, you can even grow your own variety in Alaska.
