Growing Life Organic

If you’re new to gardening, you might be wondering how to grow Popcorn corn. Growing popcorn isn’t difficult, but some steps will make it much easier. First, you should decide whether you want to start with a’seedling’ or a mature plant. A’seedling’ is a small, potted plant that is capable of producing a large crop in a very short period of time. The best part about growing this type of plant is that it doesn’t require much water.

You’ll need a well-drained plot in full sunlight. Dig a hole 12 inches deep and mix in four inches of compost. This will help the soil drain properly. When planting, make sure to water regularly. Once the soil has dried, the kernels should sprout in a week or two. Don’t let the soil get too wet; too much moisture will prevent the kernels from popping. A sprinkle of water on the seeds once a week will also keep them healthy and productive.

You can plant seeds as early as January. The seeds need to be planted an inch deep and spaced at eight to ten inches apart. They need to be kept moist at all times, so it’s important to water often. After a week, the seeds should sprout. Remember, popcorn is a heavy feeder and requires a good amount of nitrogen and other nutrients. To get started, mix one to two inches of compost into the soil. After that, sow the seeds and keep them moist. In a week or two, you should see the first plants.
