Description
Introduce some heat to your garden with our Chocolate Scotch Bonnet seeds.
These seeds will produce plants that yield an abundant harvest of chili peppers that have a unique chocolate brown color, and a distinct and intense heat.
They are a popular ingredient in Caribbean and West African cuisine, and are commonly used to make hot sauce and other spicy dishes.
To germinate the seeds, start by filling seed trays or pots with seed compost and watering it thoroughly.
Next, make small indentations in the compost, about 1/4 inch deep, and place one seed in each indentation.
Cover the seeds with a thin layer of compost or vermiculite, and water gently.
Place the tray or pots in a propagator or cover with a plastic bag and place it in a warm spot such as a windowsill or warm room.
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
Once the seedlings are big enough to handle, transplant them into 3 inch pots and grow on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outside.
They will need full sun and well-drained soil.
Space them about 14-18 inch cm apart in rows 14-18 inch apart, they can also be grown in a container or small pots.
Chocolate Scotch Bonnet plants require regular watering and fertilization, and should be protected from frost.
Keep an eye out for pests and diseases, and be sure to wear gloves when handling the peppers, as the capsaicin in the pepper can cause skin irritation.
With proper care, these plants will begin to bear fruit in about 70-80 days after transplanting, and will continue to produce peppers throughout the growing season.
