Growing Life Organic

In the state of Mississippi, corn is the first crop that can be planted. However, row crops are still struggling in this state due to the wet weather. According to estimates from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 97% of the corn that is already planted is in good condition. Other crops include rice, soybean, cotton and okra. Grain crops agronomist Erick Larson said that while the growing season in the south is much earlier than in the north, the first frosts are expected around March 23.

To plant vegetables in Mississippi, you should choose those that require a cooler climate. The southern state has a longer growing season, so it is possible to plant earlier. You should also plant parsley during this month. For cool-season root vegetables, wait until September or October to plant. For fruit trees, the best time to plant is December.

Another vegetable that can be grown in Mississippi is kale. While kale is one of the more versatile plants, you can plant it in a container. While it can grow in cooler weather, it isn’t as resilient as other plants. For this reason, you can plant a variety of kale in pots if you have limited space or want to grow more quickly. You should also consider growing peas in containers. Unlike other vegetables, peas won’t die in hot weather.
